Please note the following important information about our internship program:


  • Admission is on a competitive basis; the number of applicants routinely exceeds the number of seats available and meeting the minimum eligibility criteria to apply does not guarantee admission.  In cases where competitive selection needs to be made, clinical exam scores and English language proficiency exam scores will be used as the primary selection criteria.
  • Internship is an unpaid position (except for Qatari nationals).
  • The Application Submission Period and Program Start Date (for the Spring intake) has been amended in the tables below; please carefully note the changes.

Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) Internship Program

The HMC Internship Program operates two intakes per year, January and July.  The application intake will remain open year round with selected candidates assigned to begin their program according to their application submission date, as below:

In order to be eligible to apply for our Internship program, applicants must meet all of the following requirements

  1. Graduated within the past five years (2020 or more recent) from a medical school listed on the register of the World Directory of Medical Schools (https://www.wdoms.org/. Final year medical students are eligible to apply provided they will graduate prior to the expected internship joining date.
  2. Hold Qatari citizenship, GCC citizenship, or a valid Qatar residency permit (first degree family sponsorship only).
  3. Met the minimum listed score in any one of the following required clinical examinations:

Additional Information

  • Candidates who have already completed an internship at HMC are not eligible to apply.
  • Candidates who have partially completed an internship at HMC or those who have completed an internship year elsewhere are eligible to apply; however, priority will be given to applicants who have no prior internship experience.
  • At this time, HMC is unable to accommodate those resident in Qatar under the sponsorship of an employer or international applicants without valid residency in Qatar.
  • TOEFL, IELTS or OET results must be valid at the time of application. The current validity of both exams is two years from the date of testing.
  • Applications must be fully complete prior to submission, including all required clinical and English language proficiency examination scores. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that exams are written in sufficient time that scores are available prior to submitting an application.
  • All applications will be verified thoroughly for false information. Any discovered instances of false information or manipulation of documents will result in disqualification and withdrawal of the application.
